Irish Folk on the Lusatian Eiffel Tower
The F60 Celtic Music Festival is one of Brandenburg's most unusual concert experiences. The stage is the F60 visitor mine near Lichterfeld-Schacksdorf – a 502-meter-long, 80-meter-high conveyor bridge that once scooped coal for the open-cast mines of Niederlausitz. Today, the decommissioned steel monster stands on its giant legs and is affectionately referred to as the Lusatian Eiffel Tower. Here, amidst steel girders and the vastness of the Lusatian Lake District, international folk acts will perform on June 6, 2026.
The mix promises raw Irish pub songs, heartfelt ballads, fiery jigs and reels — from tender ballads to polka-punk outbursts. Dance, beer in hand, and the wind whistling through the steel girders.
Lichterfeld-Schacksdorf is located in the Elbe-Elster district, in the middle of a reclaimed open-cast mining area. The Bergheider See was flooded in 2003 from the former open-cast mine, and the F60 conveyor bridge was turned into a visitor mine in 2002. The industrial monument is now UNESCO-awarded and one of the most popular excursion destinations in the Lusatian Lake District. Concerts under the steel colossus are a genre of their own – acoustics, atmosphere, and views in a league that few other venues can match.
Those who stay the whole weekend can experience the Feel Festival at Bergheider See (July 23–26, 2026 – an electronic music festival with 10 stages). The Celtic Festival itself is a one-day event with concentrated density.
The F60 Celtic Music Festival 2026 takes place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM in the F60 visitor mine. The venue is a former conveyor bridge of the Lusatian lignite industry, now an industrial monument and concert stage.
The subtitle A Craic with Friends says it all: the Gaelic word Craic describes the exuberant pub atmosphere that makes Irish music so distinctive. With the spectacular industrial architecture as a backdrop, the concert gains an atmosphere you won't find in any traditional hall.
Between sets, the dancers of the Irish Beats Dance Company will provide movement. The exact setlist traditionally depends on the evening itself – improvisation and playing together with the audience are part of the concept.
