„Blossoms, Beats, and Beer Gardens“ — Spring festival with flea market, live concert, and Sunday shopping
The Maifest Senden 2026 builds on the established concept, transforming the town center of the Münsterland municipality into a mix of flea market, stage program, and Sunday shopping on a May weekend. The motto „Blossoms, Beats, and Beer Gardens“ programmatically outlines what it's all about: spring atmosphere, live music, and a convivial atmosphere in the cafés and pubs that open their outdoor areas to the festival grounds.
The weekend opens on Saturday at 12 PM: stalls with food and merchandise make way for the stage, while the flea market on Münsterstraße begins — a May tradition in Senden that attracts bargain hunters from all over the region. In the afternoon (2–5:45 PM), the „1, 2 oder 3“ quiz with students from local primary schools takes place — a charming program idea that takes children's entertainment seriously. In the evening, from 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM, the Deluxe Radioband takes over the main stage with cover hits — hosted by Radio Kiepenkerl.
Sunday begins at 11 AM with the opening of the stalls. From 12 PM to 1 PM, the Musikverein Senden e.V. takes over the stage with brass music — a traditional morning pint block that anchors the day in its Münsterland home. From 1:20 PM to 5:40 PM, the colorful stage program follows: marimba concert, dance groups, a Wushu demonstration (Chinese martial arts), and rap — a mix across generations and cultures, typical for Senden. In parallel, Senden's shops open from 1 PM to 6 PM for Sunday shopping with special promotions.
The three-part motto title precisely describes the festival: Blossoms represent May (spring, Senden's front gardens, blooming chestnut trees in the market square), Beats for the live music program from brass music to cover rock, Beer Gardens for the open outdoor areas of cafés and breweries where the festival unfolds socially. Senden is small enough for paths to cross — and large enough to offer something for every taste.
With around 21,000 inhabitants, Senden is one of the larger municipalities in western Münsterland. The town center around the market square and Münsterstraße has retained its character — historic houses, old trees, small shops. The Dortmund-Ems Canal runs along the edge of the town. Those who want to combine the Maifest with a bike tour will find ideal conditions along the canal.
The 2026 edition combines proven elements — flea market, stage program, Sunday shopping — with a surprisingly international Sunday block (marimba, Wushu, rap), reflecting the cultural diversity of Senden's club scene. Hosted again by Radio Kiepenkerl on Saturday evening.
Free admission. Food and drinks at stalls.
By car: A43 exit Senden, follow signs for the town center. Parking around the town center. By public transport: Regional train (RB) from Münster Hbf to Senden, then a 5-minute walk to the town center.

If you're serious about the flea market: arrive early — the best items are gone before 2 PM. For the Deluxe Radioband on Saturday evening, it's worth being there from 7:30 PM to secure a standing spot near the stage.
