Culinary open-air weekend on the Beuel Rhine promenade with views of Bonn's Old Town
The Street Food Festival Bonn-Beuel is one of North Rhine-Westphalia's most prominent district food truck festivals. The playing field is the right-bank Beuel Rhine promenade between the anchored China Ship (restaurant ship) to the south and the historic Bahnhöfchen to the north — a long promenade with views of Bonn's left-bank Old Town, the Kennedy Bridge, and the Siebengebirge hills in the background.
The festival is organized by the Beuel Business Association, supplemented by local restaurateurs and external food truck operators. It is announced in the Federal City of Bonn's 2026 event calendar as one of the central district formats — all four Bonn districts (Bonn, Beuel, Bad Godesberg, Hardtberg) get their own open-air highlight, and Beuel traditionally focuses on the Rhine promenade format.
Over the three days, food trucks and mobile manufacturers line the promenade along Rheinaustraße. The gastronomic offer is typically international for street food festivals: BBQ and Pulled Pork, burgers and fries variations, South American empanadas, Asian bao buns, Indian curries, Caribbean specialties, vegan and vegetarian alternatives, as well as dessert stands with crêpes, churros, and ice cream. Beverage trucks will offer Kölsch, craft beer, wine, and cocktails. Admission is free; payment is made directly at the trucks.
The Beuel promenade is ideal for this format: a wide promenade, seating areas along the Rhine, with Bonn's Old Town, including the Minster Tower and the Beethoven monument, in the background. Those who arrive early can secure spots right by the water. In the evenings, many visitors use the promenade as an open-air living room — the atmosphere is familiar, relaxed, and easier to navigate than the large street food events at Düsseldorf's Schadowplatz or Cologne's Neumarkt. Dogs on a leash are explicitly welcome.
Beuel is one of Bonn's four districts and the only one on the right bank of the Rhine. Around 68,000 inhabitants, its own identity, its own festival culture (Beueler Weiberfastnacht!). The Rhine promenade is Beuel's public face: promenade, landing stages, restaurant ships, views of Bonn on the opposite bank. The street food festival consistently utilizes this location and attracts visitors from all over left-bank Bonn — the short distance across the Kennedy Bridge makes the transition to the food truck weekend a relaxed pedestrian exercise.
The Street Food Festival Bonn-Beuel is part of a packed Bonn Volksfest year: the 17th Balloon Festival in June in Rheinaue Park, the Wine Festival on Münsterplatz in August, the Kirmes Plittersdorf at the end of September, and Pützchens Markt as Beuel's major fair at the beginning of September. Those visiting Bonn in late summer should ideally combine several of these dates — the Beuel street food weekend is the most relaxed culinary stop in this series.
Beuel is within walking distance of Bonn's city center via the Kennedy Bridge. By train: S 13 or Stadtbahn (light rail) lines 62, 65, 66, 67 to Bonn-Beuel station, then about a 5-minute walk to the promenade. By car: Parking garage at Konrad-Adenauer-Platz or the Brückenforum underground parking garage. Tip: Come early on Friday evening (opening atmosphere) or Sunday afternoon (family-friendly, sunny). Allow time for a walk along the promenade to the northern end at the Bahnhöfchen — the view of the setting sun behind Bonn's Old Town is one of the city's most beautiful.
The festival is firmly anchored in the Federal City of Bonn's press calendar. The venue is the Beuel Rhine promenade between the restaurant ship China Ship (south) and the historic Bahnhöfchen (north) — nearly 600 meters of food truck boulevard with views of Bonn's left-bank Old Town.
