17 days of spring funfair on the Beuel Rhine promenade with a Ferris wheel and family days
When the first spring days arrive in Bonn, the funfair atmosphere returns to the right bank of the Rhine: From March 27 to April 12, 2026, the Osterkirmes Beuel will set up its rides on the Beuel Rhine promenade. For over two and a half weeks, carousels, food stalls, and game booths will line up between Restaurant Bahnhöfchen and China-Schiff — with views of the Rhine, the Siebengebirge mountains in the distance, and the Bonn skyline on the other side.
The program covers the full spectrum of a large folk festival funfair:
The Osterkirmes Beuel opens daily, with adjusted times on weekends and rest days for residents:
On three Silent Funfair Days (around the religious holidays), the sound system is turned off — the rides operate, but without music. A Bonn peculiarity, showing consideration for the region's Catholic tradition.
Those visiting the Osterkirmes with children should plan for a Family Wednesday: On Wednesday afternoons, reduced prices apply to many rides — a day when families from Beuel, Bad Godesberg, and the surrounding districts flock to the Rhine promenade in large numbers.
The funfair takes place on the 'Schäl Sick', as Bonn residents traditionally call the right-bank half of their city. Beuel is one of the four districts of the federal city, formerly an independent town, and part of Bonn since 1969. The Rhine promenade in Beuel is a popular spot with views of the former government district, the Minster, and the city center. Its location directly on the water makes the Osterkirmes one of the most atmospheric spring funfair locations in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Osterkirmes Beuel is organized by the City of Bonn through its tourism department, Bonn-Information. It is one of the city's three major annual folk festivals — alongside Pützchens Markt in September and smaller district funfairs, it's a firm fixture in Bonn's event calendar.
The Osterkirmes Beuel opens its rides on the Rhine for 17 days. The setup stretches from Restaurant Bahnhöfchen to China-Schiff — Ferris wheel, action rides, children's carousels, and over 100 showman stalls with food, sweets, and games. The grounds remain closed on Good Friday out of respect for the silent holiday.
Entry to the grounds is free. Rides and food are priced individually by the showmen. Reduced prices on Wednesdays at many attractions (Family Day).
By public transport: Bus lines 550, 640, and SB60 stop directly at Konrad-Adenauer-Platz Beuel, a few minutes' walk from there. Light rail U66 to Konrad-Adenauer-Platz. By train to Bonn Hbf, then take the light rail to the right bank. By car: A59 or A562, then follow signs for Beuel-Mitte; parking is limited, public transport is recommended.
Entry to the funfair grounds is free. Rides and food stalls are priced individually by the showmen. Reduced prices on Wednesdays (Family Day) at many attractions.
On three days around the religious holidays, the music is turned off — the rides continue to operate. The grounds are completely closed on Good Friday.
The view from the Ferris wheel over the Rhine to the Siebengebirge mountains is particularly beautiful in the evening with the illuminated Bonn skyline. Evenings on weekdays are much more relaxed than on weekends.
