Wine by the North Sea

At first glance, a wine festival on a North Sea island might seem unusual – but it's precisely this combination of Atlantic climate, beach promenade, and German wine culture that makes the Borkum Wine Festival so appealing. Four wineries from the Nahe, Rheinhessen, Mosel, and Pfalz regions travel to the island every spring and present their range on the upper beach promenade.

Tasting and Atmosphere

Over several days, visitors have the opportunity to taste and purchase wines directly from the vintners. The tasting is accompanied by a gastronomic offering of regional and classic wine pairings. Every evening from 6:00 PM, the musical program starts with live music – from singer-songwriters to acoustic sets and light, summery cover versions.

Organizers and Admission

The Borkum Wine Festival is organized by the Nordseeheilbad Borkum, the island's central event organizer. Admission is free; glasses and wine lists are purchased on-site at the stand. The setup of the upper beach promenade as a wine mile with views of the dunes and the sea is a highlight in itself, both visually and atmospherically.

Embedded in the Season Opening

The date in mid-April falls into the early island season, when Borkum is completing its summer preparations. The wine festival is therefore one of the opening events of the island year and attracts both early spring holidaymakers and island residents.
