Three Weeks of Voices in the Border Triangle
Lörrach is located in the southernmost tip of Baden-Württemberg, in the Lörrach district (AGS 08336), right on the Germany–Switzerland–France border triangle — Basel is only eight kilometers away, Mulhouse slightly more. This geographical location has shaped the STIMMEN Festival since its founding in 1994 by Burghof Lörrach: every summer, singers from all over the world meet here. Stimmen — singing voices from all cultures, all genres, all languages.
Lörrach Marktplatz — Five Open-Air Evenings in June
The heart of the festival is the Marktplatz concerts: five headliner evenings with space for up to 5,000 spectators under the open sky. In 2026, on June 24, Foreigner will perform on their 50th Anniversary Tour, on June 25, Berlin rapper Capital Bra, on June 26, the indie-pop band Giant Rooks, on June 27, pop singer Leony, and on June 28, Donots with special guests H-Blockx and Gringo Mayer for an alternative rock evening.
Burghof, Stadtkirche, and Kulturvilla — Festival Program in Detail
The festival opens on June 18 in the Burghof with Ivorian singer Dobet Gnahoré and her global pop program. This is followed by the Thanda Choir from South Africa (June 19), Buechi/Hellmüller/Jerjen with jazz-folk (June 20, Kirche im Quadrat), the Latvian Voices from Riga (June 21, Stadtkirche), the Camerata Vocale Freiburg (June 30), and in July the Kammerorchester Basel (July 1), the Opera Gala by Compagnia Nuova Opera (July 2), CuaTrio (July 3), the Senegalese Orchestra Baobab (July 4, Burghof), the family concert Opera re:told (July 5), and the festival finale with the indie-pop band ok.danke.tschüss on July 11.
"Lörrach singt!" and Workshop Program
On June 20, the festival opens its doors to all citizens with "Lörrach singt!": singing groups from all over the region perform throughout the day in the city center, including joint choir sessions. Two workshops complement the program: an a cappella workshop with the Latvian Voices on June 21 and the communication seminar "Sprechen & Zuhören" (Speaking & Listening) at the festival's conclusion on July 12.
The Festival Profile
The STIMMEN Festival attracts around 34,000 visitors annually and is considered one of Germany's most important vocal music festivals. It is organized by Burghof Lörrach GmbH, a subsidiary of the City of Lörrach. The mix of global stars, classical music, world music, choral music, and participatory activities is unique in the German festival landscape — and for three weeks, it transforms the southern Baden medium-sized city into an international cultural center.
