Stammheim – Franconian wine village in the Maindreieck

Stammheim is a district of the municipality of Kolitzheim in the district of Schweinfurt (Lower Franconia, Bavaria) and is located in the heart of the Maindreieck – one of Franconia's most important wine-growing regions. On the Stammheimer Eselsberg, one of the best-known Franconian vineyard sites, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, and other Franconian grape varieties thrive. The street wine festival has honored this tradition every summer since 1984.

Four Decades of Street Wine Festival

The Stammheim street wine festival was first held in 1984. In 2024, the 40th edition was already on the calendar – a testament to the depth of village festival culture. The organizer is the Festgemeinschaft Stammheim, supported by the SV Stammheim 1946 e.V. The festival takes place around the Dorfweiher (village pond) at the foot of the Eselsberg – a particularly idyllic setting for the Franconian wine festival.

The Stammheim Wine Princess

Like many Franconian wine villages, Stammheim also has its own Weinprinzessin (wine princess) or wine queen, who ushers in the festival with a ceremonial appearance. In 2024, Angelina I. was the Stammheim Wine Princess – she entered the festival grounds with guests of honor at 6:30 PM on Saturday evening. The representative of the wine village is one of the most visible symbols of Stammheim's wine tradition.

Two-Day Program

The festival program has been proven for years:

• Saturday: Official festival start at the village pond from 4:00 PM. At 6:30 PM, the entry of the Stammheim Wine Princess with guests of honor. Afterwards, live music with the local band Die Stammheimer. Wine sales, Franconian food.
• Sunday: Festival start from 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM church service. Lunch from 11:30 AM with musical entertainment by Helmut. From 2:00 PM, youth orchestra KOLIMix. Children's program from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. From 5:00 PM, winding down with the band Die Abersfelder.

Franconian Wine from Stammheimer Eselsberg

Wine is the focus of the festival. Stammheim vintners serve wine from the current vintage at the festival grounds. The Stammheimer Eselsberg is one of Franconia's top vineyard sites – with shell limestone soil and south/southwest exposure, ideal for classic Franconian Silvaner. The best-known Stammheim wine-growing operation is the Weinbau Wirsching range in the region.
