Four stages, one village, one weekend
The Rohrbachfest in St. Ingbert-Rohrbach is one of those Saarland district festivals that has grown into a regional event over the decades. Since the early 1980s, the Vereinsring Rohrbach (Rohrbach Association Ring) has organized the festival on the first weekend of August — successfully combining a large event with a village atmosphere. Four music stages, over 60 exhibitors, international food stalls, and the opening fireworks on Friday evening attract tens of thousands of visitors to the district — year after year.
Music for all generations
What makes the Rohrbachfest special is its musical diversity: Stages are set up at various points in the village center, where bands of different styles play simultaneously — from rock and pop to brass music, Schlager, and country, to DJ sets in the evenings. Those who feel like dancing can simply switch stages; those attending with family can find quieter spots. This program structure makes the festival attractive to all age groups.
Opening with a parade and barrel tapping
Traditionally, the Rohrbachfest begins on Friday afternoon with a parade from the Wiesentalschule through the village center. The official opening with barrel tapping takes place at 5:30 PM. The first musical highlight is the line dancing performance by the local dance group (4:30 PM–7:30 PM). At 10:30 PM, the highlight of Friday evening follows: fireworks that paint the sky above the Rohrbachtal valley in color.
Over 60 exhibitors
Throughout the weekend, around 60 exhibitors are present — association stalls, artisans, food stands with international cuisine (Italian, Balkan, Asian, classic German), cocktail bars, and cafés with homemade cakes. The local associations — sports clubs, fire department, parish, music clubs — provide the majority of the catering stalls.
Family program on Saturday afternoon
Specifically for children, there is a dedicated program on Saturday afternoon: puppet theater, mascot appearances, and small play activities. Children under 12 often have free admission to many activities; for a wristband, they can participate unlimitedly in the activity stations.
St. Ingbert and the Saarpfalz district
St. Ingbert (approx. 36,000 inhabitants) is located in the Saarpfalz district east of Saarbrücken and, with its five districts — Mitte, Hassel, Oberwürzbach, Rentrisch, and Rohrbach — is the largest medium-sized town in the Saarpfalz district. Rohrbach itself has about 9,000 inhabitants, making it the largest district of St. Ingbert. The Rohrbachfest is now considered a flagship event for the association landscape of the Saarpfalz district.
