Three days of town festival with two stages, farmers' market, and showmen in the district capital of Märkisch-Oderland
Seelow, with around 5,500 inhabitants, is the district capital of Märkisch-Oderland district in eastern Brandenburg. It is regionally known for the Battle of the Seelow Heights in April 1945 and the memorial site erected there. However, the town festival, which has been one of the largest district capital events in the region for years, dominates the summer event calendar.
The 2026 Town Festival runs from Friday to Sunday, September 4th to 6th. The focal point is the Seelow Kreiskulturhaus at Erich-Weinert-Straße 13, including its outdoor areas. The opening hours are generous: Friday 4:00 PM–2:00 AM, Saturday 11:00 AM–2:00 AM, Sunday 11:00 AM–4:00 PM. Saturday is the main day with the most packed program.
Live bands, folk music ensembles, dance groups, and Schlager acts alternate on two stages. The traders' street offers regional products from Märkisch-Oderland — cheese, sausages, honey, spirits, baked goods — as well as typical festival foods like bratwurst and fries. The farmers' market is a special tradition of the festival, bringing together direct marketers from the region. The showman's area with carousels, shooting galleries, rides, and candy stalls completes the family offering. New rides are announced for 2026.
The Märkisch-Oderland district encompasses the Oderbruch — one of Germany's oldest cultural landscapes, located on the Polish border. Seelow, as the district capital, is the administrative center of this rural region. The town festival reflects the self-image of a district capital that acts as a link between Berlin (about 70 km west) and the rural Oderbruch.
The 2026 edition continues the tradition of previous years — three days of festivities at the Kreiskulturhaus, with Saturday being the highlight with a 15-hour continuous program. Concerts, folk music ensembles, and dance performances are scheduled on two stages. The farmers' market brings together direct marketers from Märkisch-Oderland.
Many innovations are announced for the 2026 festival program — details will be released by the City of Seelow in late summer.
