Lower Bavarian Village Festival in Neufraunhofen

The Dorffest of the Volunteer Fire Brigade Neufraunhofen is one of the typical village festivals that characterize Lower Bavarian community life during the summer months. The venue is the fire station in the municipality of Neufraunhofen in the District of Landshut, state of Bavaria, on the edge of the Velden administrative district. Frühschoppen, Lunch, and Family Afternoon

The festival begins on Sunday morning at 11 am with a Frühschoppen. A local brass band or a small musical group gives a concert, and the firefighters serve Weißwurst, pretzels, and the first Maß of beer. For lunch, classic Lower Bavarian delicacies are served: suckling pig, chicken, roast meat with dumplings, and grilled fish on a stick. In the afternoon, the cake counter run by the women of the club opens, accompanied by coffee served in mugs.

Children's and Family Program

The firefighters regularly offer small demonstrations for children: the large fire engine can be inspected, the youth fire brigade shows a drill, and a bouncy castle and a wheel of fortune complement the program. This makes the Dorffest an important event for recruiting new members for the FFW: many young families from Neufraunhofen and the surrounding villages come by and get to know the club's work.

A Festival of Solidarity

Behind the festival lies the community spirit of the Lower Bavarian village: the fire brigade, club members, neighbors, and families help out – with setup, in the kitchen, at the bar, and in service. The proceeds go entirely towards the purchase of new fire equipment and the youth fire brigade.
