Open Air in the Baroque Castle Garden

The Tettnang Castle Garden is one of the most beautiful baroque park landscapes on Lake Constance. The park surrounds the New Castle Tettnang, an 18th-century, three-story baroque palace that was once the residence of the Counts of Montfort and today houses municipal administrative offices and a city museum. In this historic and romantic setting, Regionalwerk Bodensee annually hosts the Schlossgarten Open Air — a concert series over several evenings featuring established acts from the German music scene. In 2026, the festival runs from June 4th to 7th — three evenings, three different genres, an extraordinary atmosphere.

Thursday, June 4th — Avantasia

The festival kicks off on Thursday evening, June 4th, 2026, with the German symphonic metal project AVANTASIA. Mastermind Tobias Sammet — known from the band Edguy — has, with Avantasia since 2001, created a rock opera project that combines symphonic metal with concept albums and a large gallery of guest singers. Live, Avantasia is a spectacular show: choreographed light show, opulent stage production, multiple singers, often 10+ musicians on stage. For Tettnang's standards, an exceptionally ambitious setup in the castle garden.

Friday, June 5th — Sarah Connor

Friday evening belongs to Sarah Connor, arguably the most famous German pop artist of the last twenty years. With hits like 'Wie schön du bist,' 'Vincent,' and 'Bonnie & Clyde,' she has carved out her own genre in German pop. Her 2026 tour presents a mix of classics and songs from her new album. Open-air concerts are a preferred format for her — the combination of the castle garden backdrop and her vocal power in an acoustic set creates a particularly intimate performance.

Saturday, June 6th — Unheilig

Saturday evening, June 6th, belongs to Unheilig — the gothic and pop-rock band fronted by 'Der Graf.' After their official career end in 2016, 'Der Graf' has been returning for several years with selected concerts and a 'Schicksal' tour. Hits like 'Geboren um zu leben' and 'Bis ans Ende der Welt' have made Unheilig one of the most popular German bands of the 2010s. In the Tettnang Castle Garden, the audience will experience a rare live performance by 'Der Graf.'

Capacity and Atmosphere

The castle garden accommodates around 3,500 spectators per concert evening — a comparatively small capacity for acts of this caliber. This makes the festival unusually intimate and allows for open-air concerts in an almost club-like atmosphere. Seating and standing areas are separate, on-site catering with regional specialties from the Lake Constance region, sufficient sanitary facilities. The supporting program starts one hour before the main act each day. Organizers recommend arriving early — parking in Tettnang is heavily frequented during concert days.
