Four kilometers of hop path, 30 breweries and beer from all over the world on Lake Constance
The Tettnang region is one of Germany's best-known hop-growing areas — Tettnanger hops enjoy a top reputation among brewers worldwide. Every two years, on the first Sunday in August, the Tettnang Hop Growers Association invites you to the Hopfenwandertag: a day when you can not only see the hop gardens but also experience them in liquid form.
The walking trail leads along the four-kilometer-long Tettnanger Hopfenpfad between Tettnang and the district of Siggenweiler. Along the way, the farms and meadows transform into four to five themed villages where breweries from Germany, the Lake Constance region, and abroad serve their beers. More than 30 breweries are represented at the Hopfenwandertag — from small craft breweries to major brands from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Austria, and Switzerland.
The concept is simple: upon entry, you receive an admission wristband, a glass, and several vouchers. With the vouchers, you can sample the beers at the stands, and you get to keep the glass. The price in the recent past was around 12 euros per person. Free shuttle buses run between Tettnang, Siggenweiler, and the parking lots on the outskirts of town.
Between the beer stands, brass bands, fanfares, and rock oldie bands provide the atmosphere. Those who want to learn more about hop cultivation can combine guided tours of the hop gardens or a visit to the Tettnanger Hopfenmuseum (Tettnang Hop Museum) with the program. Tettnang, with just under 20,000 inhabitants, is a small town in the Bodenseekreis district, in the state of Baden-Württemberg, and is located just a few kilometers north of Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance.
Sunday, August 2, 2026 — the biggest event of the year for beer lovers on Lake Constance. The four-kilometer-long Tettnanger Hopfenpfad between Tettnang-Stadt and Siggenweiler becomes a beer route with four to five themed villages.
More than 30 breweries from Germany and abroad will present their specialty beers. Brass bands and rock oldie bands will provide musical accompaniment throughout the day, and local restaurateurs and hop growers will take care of the catering.
Admission wristband incl. glass and vouchers approx. 12 EUR (2024 price as reference). Free shuttle service along the route. Tickets in advance or on the day of the event.
By train to Friedrichshafen Stadtbahnhof, then take bus 7395 to Tettnang (15 min). By car via the B 30 or B 467; parking available on the outskirts with free shuttle.
Admission wristband incl. glass and tasting vouchers (around 12 EUR in the recent past). Free shuttle buses along the route.
10:00 AM–6:00 PM. Every two years, always on the first Sunday in August.
