City festival with multiple stages, AC/DC tribute, laser show, and amateur boxing
When Neunkirchen celebrates its Stadtfest (city festival), the event spreads throughout the entire city center — from the Stummplatz as the central main stage to the pedestrian zone and the squares around the train station. Multiple stages, a free children's program, food stalls, beer benches, and dance parties create an atmosphere that has attracted thousands of visitors from the district town and the adjacent Saarpfalz region for years. The organizer is the Neunkircher Kulturgesellschaft gGmbH — the cultural subsidiary of the city.
The parallel programming of multiple stages is the festival's hallmark: the main stage at Stummplatz hosts the bigger acts, while other stages at the market square and along Bahnhofstraße offer cover bands, Schlager groups, singer-songwriters, and DJ sets. This ensures there's something for every taste — and those who switch stages in between will have experienced a complete musical cross-section.
The highlight of 2026: The band She's Got TNT — one of Germany's most renowned AC/DC tribute bands — will perform a set of classics by the Australian rock legends. Hits like “Highway to Hell,” “Thunderstruck,” and “Back in Black” will create a full stadium atmosphere — on a public stage in Neunkirchen, without tickets.
In recent years, for environmental reasons and consideration for pets, the city has replaced the traditional fireworks with a laser show. The format has become established — the projection of colorful light effects onto the facades of the city center, synchronized with music, is a modern spectacle visible throughout the city.
A rather unusual program segment for a city festival: amateur boxing matches on Saturday evening, organized by the local boxing club. A boxing ring stage will be set up centrally, and visitors can watch the fights up close by the ring — a mix of a folk festival and a sporting event that attracts boxing enthusiasts and the curious alike.
Especially for families: The entire children's program is free. Bouncy castles, face painting, craft activities, small play areas, and mascot appearances form the Saturday afternoon schedule. This consciously positions the Stadtfest as a family-friendly event.
Neunkirchen (approx. 47,000 inhabitants) is the district capital of the Neunkirchen district — a former steel city with an industrial history and a noticeable structural change today. The Saarpark-Center, one of the largest shopping centers in Southern Germany, is an economic anchor, and the Stummplatz is the social center of the city. The Stadtfest annually marks the summer highlight of public life.
The 2026 edition continues the established format. By early 2026, it was already confirmed: AC/DC tribute She's Got TNT on the main stage, laser show instead of fireworks, amateur boxing on Saturday evening, and a free children's program. Further program details will be announced on nk-kultur.de and the Neunkircher Kulturgesellschaft's Facebook page.
The full band lineup will be published in May 2026 on nk-kultur.de.
