Three Days of Festival Culture at the Castle

When the Stadtfest begins in Meyenburg from June 5th to 7th, 2026, the Prignitz region will be buzzing for a whole weekend — at least in the castle park. The small market town, with just under 1,500 inhabitants, is one of the quietest corners of Brandenburg. But once a year, the square by the castle fills with music, stalls, dancing, and social gatherings. The organizer is the Meyenburg administrative office, which handles the organization for all three days and ensures a packed program — from the Friday evening kickoff to the relaxed Sunday conclusion.

A Special Location: Meyenburg Castle

What makes the Stadtfest unique is its venue: Meyenburg Castle, a 16th-century moated Renaissance castle that today houses, among other things, a fashion museum with original clothing from the 1900s to the 1970s. The festival unfolds around the castle, in the expansive park and on the adjacent squares — with a main stage, food stalls, an arts and crafts market, and small activity areas for children. A backdrop rarely found at town festivals of this size.

Program and Schedule

The detailed program is traditionally available as a printed flyer, which can be downloaded from amtmeyenburg.de and is distributed in local shops. Based on experience, you can expect live music from regional bands, a festival parade or a band procession, children's activities, food and drink with Prignitz specialties (wild goulash, Knieperkohl, Bockwurst, beer from a regional brewery), and usually a major stage highlight with dance music on Saturday evening. Sundays feature a cozy conclusion with a Frühschoppen (morning pint) and family program.

Meyenburg is located in the Prignitz district, the northwestern tip of Brandenburg, where the state borders Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Prignitz is a sparsely populated landscape with vast forests, meadows, and small towns — which is precisely why festivals like the Stadtfest Meyenburg are so important here: they are the social heart of the region, the date when former residents return and visitors discover the town. Those wishing to extend their weekend can combine the visit with Stechlinsee lake, Müritz lake, or a cycling tour through the Prignitzer Tor region.

Getting There and Catering

By car via the A 24 (Hamburg–Berlin), exit Pritzwalk, then take the L 14 to Meyenburg (approx. 30 km). By train from Berlin Hbf to Pritzwalk, then by bus or taxi to Meyenburg. Parking is available around the castle park. Catering is fully provided on-site throughout the festival weekend; reservations at nearby guesthouses are recommended, as accommodations are usually fully booked during the festival weekend.
