St. Hubertus Rifle Association Visbek
The St. Hubertus Visbek e.V. Rifle Association is one of the oldest and largest associations in the municipality of Visbek. Like many rifle associations in the predominantly Catholic Oldenburg Münsterland, it is connected to the St. Vitus parish and preserves the traditional customs of parades, king shooting, club uniforms, and musical accompaniment by drum corps and music bands.
'Bei den Tannen' Shooting Grounds
The namesake shooting grounds 'Bei den Tannen' (By the Fir Trees) are located on the outskirts of Visbek, sheltered by old coniferous trees. The shady area offers space for a large festival tent, several shooting ranges, food stalls, and parking for the arriving friendly associations. The atmosphere under the fir trees is legendary and gives the festival its poetic nickname.
Pentecost as a Fixed Date
The decision to hold the festival on the Pentecost weekend has been a tradition for generations. From Friday evening to Whit Monday, the festival offers a condensed programme with a ceremonial opening, king shooting, eagle shooting, a grand parade through Visbek, and a king's ball. In 2026, Whit Sunday falls on May 24th.
Parade and Proclamation of the King
The highlight is the traditional parade through Visbek's streets with the rifle companies, friendly associations, drum corps, and music bands from the region. Afterwards, the newly elected King and his court are ceremonially proclaimed on the shooting grounds and honoured in the festival tent. Dance evenings with live music round off the weekend.

The exact programme for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
- Friday, May 22nd: Ceremonial opening and opening of the festival tent, welcome of guests of honour, dance evening with live music
- Whit Saturday, May 23rd: King shooting for club members, afternoon for children with games and children's king shooting, afternoon for seniors with coffee and cake, dance evening in the evening
- Whit Sunday, May 24th: Festival service, eagle shooting at the shooting range, followed by the grand parade through Visbek with rifle companies, friendly associations, drum corps, and music bands, proclamation of the new royal couple in the festival tent
- Whit Monday, May 25th: Morning gathering (Frühschoppen), King's Ball with live band in the festival tent, awards ceremony, cosy conclusion
