Carnival parade in the Trier district of Pfalzel on Shrove Sunday
Trier has several district parades, each taking place on its own carnival days – a tradition that spreads the carnival events over the three 'toll' days and also secures local festival and club life in the smaller districts. Pfalzel in the north of Trier, at the confluence of the Moselle and the Sauer section (former imperial abbey and a place with a rural-urban character for centuries), is one of the districts with its own active carnival club life.
The carnival parade on Sunday is Pfalzel's central public carnival event. Floats and walking groups from local carnival clubs, schools, and friendly clubs from the Trier surrounding area and neighboring Eifel villages parade through the district center. Assembly takes place in Rothildisstraße; the route leads through Pfalzel's main streets, ending at the central square. "Kamelle" (sweets) are thrown for the audience, especially for the children.
Afterwards, the carnival events move to the clubhouses and inns.
The 2026 edition follows the classic format of district parades. The exact order of the parade numbers and the number of participating floats will be announced by the local carnival clubs of Pfalzel in February 2026.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in February. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Assembly: Rothildisstraße, Trier-Pfalzel (54293) from approx. 1:30 PM.
Start: 2:11 PM.
Entry: Free.
Getting there: City bus from Trier-Mitte to Pfalzel.
