Two days of Saar Riesling at 13 wineries between Serrig and Konz-Filzen with bus shuttle
The Saar is part of the Mosel wine region and home to some of Germany's most prestigious wineries. The cool steep slopes above the river produce Rieslings whose elegance, acidity, and minerality have achieved international cult status. The SaarRieslingSommer makes this heritage tangible over two days — directly in the producers' courtyards.
The participating wineries are spread along the Saar axis between Serrig in the south and Konz-Filzen in the north. Among them are Weingut Piedmont (Filzen), Reverchon (Filzen), von Othegraven (Kanzem), Gut Cantzheim (Kanzem), J.P. Mertes (Kanzem), Forstmeister Geltz Zilliken (Saarburg), Weingut Herrenberg (Schoden), Bischöfliche Weingüter, Peter Lauer (Ayl), Margarethenhof (Ayl), Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt (Morscheid), Würtzberg (Serrig), and Schloss Saarstein (Serrig). A bus shuttle, included in the ticket, connects the locations – no car, no stress, just comfortable hopping between courtyards and vineyards.
On Friday, August 28th, an opening event kicks off the Summer Riesling series. Saturday and Sunday (12 PM–6 PM each day) form the main event: visitors can taste wines at each location, chat with the winemakers, and enjoy regional cuisine. This format fundamentally differs from traditional folk wine festivals (Volks-Weinfeste) – it's an open-cellar experience and a wine journey combined.
The ticket model offers flexibility: Weekend ticket €70 (both days), Saturday day ticket €55, Sunday day ticket €40 – each includes the bus shuttle and a tasting glass. The SaarRieslingSommer is supported by Rheinland-Pfalz Tourism, visitmosel, and the participating wineries – a concerted promotion for one of Germany's most exciting wine regions.
In 2026, the Saar Riesling initiative once again presents its open-cellar format, connecting the region for a two-day wine event. Each courtyard offers a unique presentation: from the formal tasting format at Forstmeister Geltz Zilliken to the relaxed garden atmosphere at Peter Lauer or Schloss Saarstein.
The bus shuttle system makes the event accessible without the need for a designated driver – all participants can travel without a car. The shuttle is included in the ticket price and clearly signposted in the participating towns.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
The program sequence at each location, special tastings, and culinary offerings will be individually announced by the participating wineries.
