Lichtenberg Homeland and Meadow Festival

As the Meadow Festival traditionally takes place on the third weekend in July, it is scheduled for July 25 to 27 in 2026 at the festival grounds by the Frankenwaldsee. Based on the founding year of 1832, this marks the 194th edition of this traditional homeland festival.

As every year, artfully tied flower arches characterize the festival's appearance. The girls dance their flower dances in red skirts, the boys compete in crossbow shooting; in addition, there is eagle shooting, Hammelkegeln, children's games, music, and catering. The highlight is the festively decorated parade from the castle hill to the Frankenwaldsee. The detailed program will be announced by the town of Lichtenberg.

2026 Schedule (3 Days)

• Saturday, July 25 — Festival opening, catering, and music on the festival grounds by the Frankenwaldsee
• Sunday, July 26 — Festively decorated parade from the castle hill to the Frankenwaldsee, flower dances by girls in red skirts, crossbow shooting by boys, eagle shooting, and Hammelkegeln
• Monday, July 27 — Children's games, Meadow Festival program, and festival conclusion

Getting Here

Lichtenberg is located in the Hof district (Upper Franconia) in the Frankenwald Nature Park, near the Thuringian border. Arrive via the A9 (exit Berg/Bad Steben) or the B173 and state roads. The festival grounds are located around the Frankenwaldsee.

The Meadow Festival always takes place on the third weekend in July and lasts for three days.

Admission

Entry to the festival grounds is free; prices for food, drinks, and attractions are set by the organizers.
