About Kurparkfest

The Kurparkfest transforms the listed Kurpark of Bad Steben into a stage for live music, street theatre, and arts and crafts for three days. In the extensive park of the Bavarian spa town in the Upper Franconian district of Hof, bands play in the beer garden, stilt walkers and samba groups parade across the meadows, and an arts and crafts market invites visitors to browse. With a children's program, diverse culinary offerings, and the special atmosphere of the historic Wandelhalle (promenade hall), the festival has long been a firm fixture in the Franconian Forest summer calendar.

A Festival in the Heart of the Franconian Forest

The Kurparkfest Bad Steben is one of the most atmospheric summer events in the Upper Franconian district of Hof. The venue is the approximately 40-hectare, listed Kurpark of the Bavarian spa town Bad Steben, whose historic Wandelhalle and expansive meadows form the backdrop for a three-day program of music, street art, and crafts.

Music in the Beer Garden

The heart of the festival is the stage in the beer garden, where different bands perform from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. The opening on Friday at 6 p.m. is by the formation Play again Sam, followed on Saturday by MelodyMätch and Gezeiten, and on Sunday Pina Colada and Die Zweitakter will play. The mix of cover bands and regional musicians creates a relaxed festival atmosphere under the open sky.

Street Theatre and Walk-Acts

Artists parade along the park paths, making the festival an experience for all the senses:

  • the Zebra stilt theatre with the poetic walk-act Chamäleon
  • a samba group with drummers and two samba dancers
  • a Capoeira group with Brazilian rhythms
  • the acrobatic group Die wilden Zwerge
  • a puppeteer and a ventriloquist with comedy and magic

Arts and Crafts and Family Program

On Saturday and Sunday, an arts and crafts market with handmade products opens on the park meadows. There is a special children's program with play activities, bouncy castles, and face painting. The culinary offerings range from pizza, waffles, langos, and crêpes to bratwurst, steaks, and fish, as well as drinks from non-alcoholic thirst quenchers to beer and wine, and Aperol and cocktails.

Bad Steben — Bavaria's Northernmost State Spa

Bad Steben is known as a health resort and is nestled in the forests of the Franconian Forest near the Thuringian border. The Kurpark with its Wandelhalle is the green centre of the town and, during the Kurparkfest, provides the ideal stage for a festival that brings together spa guests, locals, and visitors from the entire region.

Kurparkfest — edition 2026

The 2026 Kurparkfest will take place from Friday, June 5th to Sunday, June 7th, in the Bad Steben Kurpark. For three days, there will be live music in the beer garden, street theatre, an arts and crafts market on the weekend, and a children's program with bouncy castles.

The Kurparkfest Bad Steben 2026 opens from Friday, June 5th to Sunday, June 7th. The listed Kurpark will once again become the stage for a three-day program of music, street art, and crafts.

On the beer garden stage, Play again Sam (Fri 6 PM), MelodyMätch and Gezeiten (Sat), and Pina Colada and Die Zweitakter (Sun) will perform. In addition, the Zebra stilt theatre with the walk-act Chamäleon, a samba and a Capoeira group, as well as a puppeteer and ventriloquist will parade along the park paths.
