A Civic Festival in Kempten
The Stadtfest Kempten is one of the largest civic festivals in the Oberallgäu region and takes place annually on the first weekend of July. The setting is the city center of Kempten (Allgäu), which boasts being one of the oldest cities in Germany. Rathausplatz, Residenzplatz, St.-Mang-Platz, and Sigmund-Ullmann-Platz become a continuous festival mile.
Program and Stages
The centerpiece is the extensive stage program: Live concerts and DJ sets kick off on Friday evening, while Saturday is dedicated to dance and fitness demonstrations as well as presentations by local clubs during the day, before live bands and electronic music take over the squares again in the evening. The musical spectrum ranges from regional Bavarian bands to reggae, funk, and electronic music; in the past, artists such as Jamaram, Loamsiada, and Lemonpepper have performed. The festival concludes on Sunday with an ecumenical church service.

In addition to music, the Stadtfest offers numerous hands-on activities and events for families, children, and teenagers, as well as a sports mile and presentations by local clubs. This makes the festival a meeting point for the entire city community and guests from all over the Allgäu region.

The organizer is Stadtmarketing Kempten GmbH. The great interest was evident in 2025, when the Stadtfest recorded a new record with over 46,000 visitors, underscoring its role as a highlight in Kempten's summer event calendar in the district and city of Kempten.

The 2026 edition of Stadtfest Kempten runs from Friday, July 3, to Sunday, July 5, 2026, in Kempten's city center. Stages on Rathausplatz, Residenzplatz, St.-Mang-Platz, and Sigmund-Ullmann-Platz will host the weekend: Friday evening live concerts and DJ sets, Saturday during the day dance, fitness, and club presentations in the pedestrian zone, Saturday evening again live bands and electronic music, Sunday ecumenical church service at 11:30 AM.
Admission is free. The organizer is Stadtmarketing Kempten GmbH; after the record attendance in 2025 (over 46,000 guests), large crowds are expected again.

The stage program starts on Friday evening; during the day on Saturday, a stroll through the pedestrian zone with club and sports presentations is worthwhile.
