Running Across the Bridge
The Sparkassen Rügenbrücken-Marathon is one of the largest running events in northeastern Germany. Its hallmark: all routes lead across the Rügen Bridge, which connects the mainland with the Baltic Sea island of Rügen. For the run, the bridge is closed to car traffic – allowing participants to cross the impressive structure on foot, with panoramic views over the Strelasund.
Seven Distances for Everyone
The event is aimed at runners of all performance levels. It offers a marathon, a half marathon, a 10-kilometer run, a 6-kilometer run, walking routes of 10 and 6 kilometers, and a 3-kilometer children's run. From ambitious marathon runners to families tackling the children's run together, everyone will find their suitable distance here.
World Heritage City Scenery
Stralsund, a Hanseatic city on the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is a UNESCO World Heritage site with its old town. From the bridge arch, runners look out over the brick churches and gabled houses of the old town, as well as the waters of the Strelasund. This scenery makes the run a special experience that goes far beyond the sporting competition.
A Well-Rehearsed Sports Event
All finishers receive a medal and a certificate with their time. An official running shirt is available. With its clear concept and unique route, the Rügenbrücken-Marathon has established itself as a permanent fixture in the northern German running calendar over many editions.
