The Stralsund Christmas Market is the oldest Advent market on the Baltic coast. It has been documented as far back as 1512 – thus, it boasts a tradition spanning over five centuries. Today, it shapes the entire UNESCO World Heritage old town of the Hanseatic city and makes Advent in Stralsund a special experience.
Four Locations, Four Atmospheres
The market is spread across several squares in the old town, each with its own character:
- Alter Markt – with a culture tent and over 40 free events
- Rathauskeller – with over 40 craftspeople
- Neuer Markt – with an ice rink, amusement rides, a 30-meter high Ferris wheel, and breakdance
- Johanniskloster – with the medieval Nikolai Market
Program and Atmosphere
Throughout the entire Advent season, the Stralsund Christmas Market offers a packed program. The culture tent on the Alter Markt hosts more than forty free events; the Rathauskeller becomes a stage for arts and crafts. Mulled wine, festive scents, and the sparkle of lights against the backdrop of brick buildings create an inviting atmosphere.
