Reichenberg and Fuchsstadt in Southern Würzburg
The market town of Reichenberg is located in the southern Würzburg district, nestled among vineyards and forests around the Maintal valley. Fuchsstadt is one of its districts, small, rural, with active club life — the Landjugend Fuchsstadt organizes the Kirchweih as the annual major event of their village.
Landjugend as Organizer
The Landjugend Fuchsstadt is part of the Bavarian Farmers' Association youth and traditionally consists of young adults between 14 and 30 years old. They organize several festivities throughout the year — the Kirchweih is their flagship event. The catering, setup, program, and general assistance for the event are entirely carried out voluntarily by the young people.
Program Structure
The Kirchweih follows the classic Franconian structure:
- Friday — Opening Evening: Beer tapping and first dance evening with live band or DJ set
- Saturday — Main Evening: Grand dance evening with a Franconian cover band, often the busiest night
- Sunday — Frühschoppen + Family Day: Morning with brass music, lunch with classic Franconian festival cuisine, afternoon family program
- Monday — Closing Evening: Closing celebration with a cozy dance band
Festival Tent Cuisine
The Landjugend cooks themselves — Franconian festival tent specialties: Bratwurst, Schäuferla (pork shoulder), homemade Käsespätzle (cheese noodles), Apfelkücherl (apple fritters), and Schmalzgebäck (lard pastries). Beer from a Mainfranken brewery (usually Würzburger Hofbräu or Distelhäuser) is served, along with Franconian wine by the glass from nearby vineyards.
Significance as a Village Centerpiece
Like many Lower Franconian Kirchweihen, the festival is less a tourist event and more a village centerpiece: Families, former emigrants from Fuchsstadt, and neighboring communities meet once a year at the sports center. Visitors from outside experience Franconian festival culture in its original form, supported by local clubs.

The 2026 Kirchweih is officially announced by the market town of Reichenberg's event calendar for July 3–6, 2026. The organizer is the Landjugend Fuchsstadt, which hosts the festival independently and voluntarily at the sports center. Getting There
Reichenberg is located directly south of Würzburg on the B19 towards Tauberbischofsheim. From Würzburg main station, take bus 26 to Reichenberg (approx. 20 min). From Reichenberg market square to the sports center in Fuchsstadt by car in 5 min. Parking available at the sports grounds.
Admission
Free admission to the festival grounds. Food and drinks are served in the festival tent at the sports center. Meals and beverages at the serving counters.
