Neubrandenburger Bücherfrühling

The 2026 Bücherfrühling expands UNESCO World Book Day (April 23rd) into a literary festival with approximately 30 events from April to June. The series will be opened on April 25th by actor and author Sabin Tambrea, who will read from his work »Vaterländer« — the moving life story of his Romanian-Hungarian family.

Over the weeks, readings, workshops, and award ceremonies will be held at venues such as the Regional Library, Brigitte Reimann Literature House, Regional Museum, and the Mecklenburg Literary Society.

2026 Program

• April 25 — Opening: Sabin Tambrea reads from »Vaterländer«
• Regional Library: Presentation of the Groß Nemerow local chronicle, humorous readings in the BiboCafé, children's book reading with Suza Kolb
• Brigitte Reimann Literature House: Readings on social issues and a summer festival
• Regional Museum: Exhibition on the GDR heavy metal subculture
• Mecklenburg Literary Society: Encounters with authors Peter Wawerzinek and Andrea Paluch

The venues are located in Neubrandenburg's city center, within walking distance of the main train station. Arrive by car via the A20 motorway.
