Sommerfest Musikverein Schwanfeld

The Musikverein Schwanfeld since 1969

The Musikverein Schwanfeld 1969 e.V. was founded — as the name suggests — in 1969 and is one of the traditional brass bands in the Schweinfurt district. The repertoire includes classic Franconian brass music, concert marches, polkas, waltzes, and modern arrangements. The association performs at festivals, concerts, and church events in Schwanfeld and the surrounding region.

The Musikverein Summer Festival

The Sommerfest is the music association's most important own event. Invited guest bands from the Schweinfurt district and Lower Franconia (often music associations from Obereuerheim, Werneck, or the Mainecks municipalities) perform together with the MV Schwanfeld. Franconian cuisine — bratwurst, Schäuferla, Krautwickel, and Maibowle — and beer service by local breweries complete the program.

Schwanfeld and the Summer of Associations

Schwanfeld has about 1,600 inhabitants and is located in the Schweinfurt district on the Mainecks. The municipality fosters a particularly vibrant club life with a music association, sports club, shooting club, »Sound Connection Schwanfeld« (a more modern music group), parish community, and kindergarten. The 2026 summer of associations includes the Parish festival (June 13-14), Kindergarten festival (June 21), Musikverein Summer Festival (June 28), SV Schwanfeld Sports Festival (July 12), and Schützenfest (July 19). The Musikverein Summer Festival fits into this dense sequence of events.

Franconian Club Festival

The Musikverein Summer Festival is a typical Franconian club festival: local, family-friendly, organized by club members on a voluntary basis, with proceeds flowing back into the club's activities (sheet music acquisition, uniforms, training of new musicians). It is precisely this format that carries the Franconian brass music tradition across generations.
