Charlottenburg street festival with art, wine, and live music
The Summer Festival on Leonhardtstraße is an example of a Berlin neighbourhood festival organised by the community, not by a large event agency. The organiser is the association Family & Friends e.V., which curates several art and wine markets as well as street festivals in Berlin neighbourhoods – always with a focus on high-quality arts and crafts and a relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere.
Leonhardtstraße runs through the Charlottenburg district (Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf borough) between the Charlottenburg District Court and Stuttgarter Platz. The street is notable for its particularly wide pavements and beautiful, historic street lamps – an urban planning detail from the Wilhelminian era that predestines the street for street festivals. In everyday life, small shops and restaurants characterise the scene, making the street a typical Charlottenburg residential area.
The programme has grown over the years and combines several strands:
The Summer Festival is now in its 20th edition and is a firmly established date in the Charlottenburg calendar. Regular visitors from the neighbourhood meet here annually, while the event also attracts visitors from all over Berlin who have come to appreciate the format.
In 2026, Leonhardtstraße will once again open its doors on Saturday, August 22, for the Summer Festival. As in previous years, the street between the Charlottenburg District Court and Stuttgarter Platz will become a festival mile with numerous stalls, a stage for live music, and a children's area.
The Summer Festival remains true to its tried-and-tested mix: regional and international street food stalls, wine stands, high-quality arts and crafts (ceramics, jewellery, watches, art postcards, paintings), antiques, African crafts, and a fashion summer sale featuring local boutiques. Live bands will alternate on stage. Families will find a dedicated programme with hands-on activities.
