Club festival of Eisenbahnpark Wendisch Rietz on Scharmützelsee — August 26 and 27, 2026, 10 AM–6 PM
Wendisch Rietz is a recognized resort on the southern shore of Scharmützelsee, one of Brandenburg's most beautiful lakes (at 12 km long, it's the second-largest lake in the state). The municipality belongs to the Scharmützelsee office in the Oder-Spree district and is characterized by tourism: three holiday parks with a total of around 1,300 beds directly on the lake, wellness and Kneipp facilities, water sports, hiking, and cycling. Incidentally, Wendisch Rietz will celebrate its 650th anniversary in 2026 (first mentioned in 1376). The Eisenbahnpark is one of the surprising excursion destinations beyond the classic beach program.
The Eisenbahnpark was created by the club "Eisenbahnpark Wendisch Rietz e.V." on grounds directly on Scharmützelsee — a volunteer-maintained model railway park with narrow-gauge garden railways on two tracks, a traffic education course, mini-quad tracks for children, and a small club canteen. Unlike commercial amusement parks, the atmosphere is intimate and family-friendly — club members explain the layout, children can ride along, and adults can admire the club's model constructions. The park is open during the summer months, and the summer festival is the big highlight of the year.
The summer festival on August 26 and 27, 2026, runs from 10 AM to 6 PM on both days. The program follows a proven formula: bouncy castle for the youngest visitors; guest operators from the model railway and garden railway scene travel with their own vehicles and run them on the club tracks — a show for railway enthusiasts; catering with a barbecue stand (sausages, steaks) and drinks; free access to the large narrow-gauge railway circuit (included in admission). Those who stay longer can head to the Scharmützelsee beach after visiting the park, which is just a few minutes away — a perfect summer combination.
Wendisch Rietz is accessible by car via the A 12 (exit Storkow or Friedersdorf) and the L 39 — about 1 hour from Berlin. By train: RE 1 from Berlin to Fürstenwalde, then bus or rental car, or NEB line RB 36 with Wendisch Rietz station. The Eisenbahnpark is located on Beeskower Chaussee, a few minutes from the train station. Those who want to combine the summer excursion with a weekend stay will find holiday apartments and guesthouses in Wendisch Rietz or the neighboring Scharmützelsee town of Bad Saarow.
In 2026, Eisenbahnpark Wendisch Rietz e.V. once again invites you to its annual summer festival on the club grounds on Beeskower Chaussee. Two days of club program with the proven mix of model railway show, family festival, and catering. The exact program details will be communicated by the club a few weeks before the event on posters and local event platforms.
