Traditional local and 'Schwebefest' festival on the last Sunday of July — 2026 marks the 700th anniversary of Dürrenwaldstetten
The Schwebefest is one of the most beautiful regional traditions of the Alb-Danube region. The Schwebeverein Dürrenwaldstetten e.V. (Floating Association) initiated the festival in 1972 and has celebrated it traditionally on the last Sunday of July and the following Monday ever since. The venue is the Schwebe-Wiese at the Buchenwäldchen — a bright festival ground in a small clearing in the forest, which gets its special atmosphere from the natural backdrop of trees, meadows, and birdsong.
2026 will be a special Schwebefest year: the municipality of Dürrenwaldstetten celebrates its 700th anniversary (first documented mention 1326), the parish church its 200th anniversary, and the volunteer fire brigade its 140 years. The Schwebefest will therefore feature a special program — the festive church service on Sunday will gain additional significance, the afternoon program with the Albdorfmusikanten Pfronstetten will be musically expanded, and the festival Monday with 'Hans und seine Freunde' will be a atmospheric conclusion.

Dürrenwaldstetten is a district of the municipality of Langenenslingen (Biberach district, AGS 08426) on the edge of the Swabian Jura. The village is located in a quiet, rural setting amidst meadows, forests, and a few farms. The municipality of Langenenslingen comprises several sub-districts and is an example of the preservation of Swabian village culture — the Schwebefest is a central expression of this tradition. The Schwebe-Wiese is one of the most beautiful festival grounds in the Swabian Jura region.
On Sunday, July 26, and Monday, July 27, 2026, the Schwebefest celebrates its traditional edition — and at the same time, the grand 700th anniversary of Dürrenwaldstetten (first documented mention 1326). In addition, there are 200 years of the parish church and 140 years of the volunteer fire brigade. Three anniversaries — a special edition of the festival on the Schwebe-Wiese by the Buchenwäldchen.
Sunday begins with a festive church service at 10:30 AM, musically accompanied by the Dürrenwaldstetten-Ittenhausen church choir. From 2 PM, the Grand Afternoon of Folk Music follows with the Albdorfmusikanten Pfronstetten. On Monday, July 27, there will be catering from 5 PM and the traditional festival wind-down with 'Hans und seine Freunde' from 6 PM. Admission to the entire Schwebefest is free.
