Summer production 2026 — A family play about a young man who sells his heart
From July 5 to August 30, 2026, the Naturtheater Hayingen presents its summer production “Herz aus Stoi” — a family play about a young man who sells his heart, and the question of how to find lost feelings again. The play is set in the idyllic Tiefental valley on the Swabian Jura, one of Southern Germany's special open-air theatre locations.
Herz aus Stoi is a modern parable in the spirit of Southern German folk tales. A young man sells his heart out of heartbreak and financial worries — only to discover that life without feeling becomes empty. The story is about love, loss, and the search for what truly matters. Suitable for families with children aged 8 and up.
In addition to the main production, the Naturtheater offers two accompanying events:
The Naturtheater Hayingen is located in the picturesque Tiefental valley, nestled among the forests of the Swabian Jura. The open-air stage with covered seating, wheelchair accessibility, and natural shade provides a unique performance venue. On sunny afternoons, the sun can reach the lower rows — a minor weather challenge that also makes the experience immediate. In case of rain, performances are usually held under cover or postponed.
With around 2,200 inhabitants, Hayingen is one of the smaller municipalities in the Reutlingen district on the Swabian Jura. Despite its modest size, the town bears a town charter and boasts a vibrant cultural life — primarily through the Naturtheater, which has been one of Southern Germany's most renowned amateur theatre productions for decades. Its location on the Swabian Jura, with its castles, karst landscapes, and caves, offers an attractive tourist environment.
