Club Kirwa in the Upper Palatinate
The Schützenkirwa Pullenreuth is a club Kirwa hosted by the Schützengesellschaft 1958 e.V. Pullenreuth. It takes place in the club's own shooting house on Dorfstraße in the Upper Palatinate municipality of Pullenreuth in the Tirschenreuth district. In rural Bavaria, the Kirwa is far more than just a festival – it is an expression of community spirit and voluntary club life.
Living Tradition in the Shooting House
The shooting association was founded in March 1958 and, in the following decades, built its own shooting house with a modern 25-meter shooting range. A packed event calendar revolves around this clubhouse: In addition to the Schützenkirwa, the program includes the Weißbierfest (wheat beer festival) with the award ceremony for the Bürger-Schießen (citizens' shooting competition) (July), the Herbst- und Rehschießen (autumn and deer shooting competition) with Zoigl beer service (November), the Nussschießen (nut shooting competition) with a Christmas celebration (December), and the King's Proclamation.
Zoigl and Sociability
As is typical for the region, the Zoigl beer, a bottom-fermented beer brewed using a communal brewing process maintained as intangible cultural heritage in the northern Upper Palatinate, is served at the shooting association's festivals. The Schützenkirwa thus combines shooting traditions, Kirchweih customs, and Upper Palatinate beer culture into an atmospheric village festival.
A Lively Village in the Steinwald Forest
Pullenreuth is located on the edge of the Steinwald Nature Park in the northern Upper Palatinate. Events such as the Schützenkirwa, the Weißbierfest, or the autumn festival organized by local clubs shape the social life of the municipality and are fixed meeting points for locals and guests from the surrounding area.
