Kirwa in the Fichtelgebirge Foothills

The region between the Fichtelgebirge, Oberpfälzer Wald, and Steinwald is home to a dense Kirwa tradition. In every village, often also in its hamlets, the patron saint's day of the chapel or church becomes the annual Kirwa – supported by associations and the village community.

Schwarzenreuth between Ebnath and Neusorg

Schwarzenreuth is a small village that belongs ecclesiastically to the parish of Ebnath and publishes its dates in the event calendars of both the municipality of Ebnath and the neighboring municipality of Neusorg. Both municipalities are part of the Neusorg administrative district in the Tirschenreuth district, Bavaria.

What makes the Schwarzenreuth Village Kirwa special

  • Festival opening with beer tapping on Saturday
  • Sociable gathering around the chapel
  • Catering by the Kapellenverein Schwarzenreuth
  • Live music or regional dance band on Saturday evening
  • Sunday: Festive service, morning pint (Frühschoppen), Kirwa winding down

The Tirschenreuth Region

The Tirschenreuth district is one of the least populated regions in Bavaria – characterized by forests, fish ponds (carp region), and a quiet, often melancholic landscape. Those who want to experience a Kirwa in the "backwoods" of Bavaria, far from the major tourist crowds, will find authentic traditional culture here.
