Burg Sonnenberg as a Summer Stage

Burg Sonnenberg is a medieval castle ruin in the Wiesbaden district of the same name in the north of the city. Presumably built in the 12th century, it is now a popular excursion destination with an extensive castle garden. It is here that Theater kuenstlerhaus43 im Palasthotel has hosted its summer festival annually since 2014 – a true open-air season for four weeks during the summer.

kuenstlerhaus43 – Theatre at the Palasthotel

The kuenstlerhaus43 is an established independent stage in Wiesbaden, housed in the former breakfast rooms of the elegant Palasthotel Wiesbaden. With its domed hall and over 240 m² of historic performance space, the venue offers an intimate atmosphere between stage and audience. In summer, the ensemble moves outdoors to Burg Sonnenberg.

Four Weeks, Everything Included

The 2026 programme is deliberately multidisciplinary: theatre (classical and contemporary), poetry slam with the Grand Slam semi-finals and finals, improvised crime with "Mord in Aussicht", music with BurgGroove and concert evenings, children's theatre with the premiere of "Momo" based on Michael Ende. Plus cabaret, opera, concerts, and guest productions.

More Than 10 Years of Tradition

Since its first edition in 2014, the festival has become a fixture in Wiesbaden's summer cultural scene. The concept of a historic castle backdrop, intimate performance settings, and diverse programming attracts loyal regular guests every year.

Admission and Reservations

Tickets start at €14, tiered according to the event. Reservations can be made via Reservix or directly with the theatre (Tel. 0611-172 45 96, [email protected]).
