Neighbourhood Culture in Wiesbaden-West
The Bergkirchenviertel is located directly west of Wiesbaden's city centre, with the Protestant Bergkirche church as its architectural and social hub. Narrow alleys, small squares, old townhouses, and a vibrant neighbourhood tradition make it one of Wiesbaden's most charming districts. For years, the association KiB – Kultur im Bergkirchenviertel e.V. has been active here with its neighbourhood cultural days.
Six Weeks of Neighbourhood Culture
From May 1 to June 13, 2026, the KiB neighbourhood cultural days programme will run – six weeks of events spread across the entire district. This makes the format one of the longest-running neighbourhood cultural festivals in the Hessian state capital.
Concerts, Theatre, Readings, Performances
The programme includes concerts in the Bergkirche church and at open-air venues, theatre performances in surrounding venues, readings in galleries and cafés, performances, exhibition openings, and a dedicated children's programme. Highlights include:
- Neighbourhood Breakfast – the district comes together on a central square at the weekend
- Neighbourhood Tours – guided walks through the historic district
- "Auf die PLÄTZE los" – originally planned for May 29, 2026, rescheduled to Friday, June 5, 2026, 2:00 PM–5:00 PM
- Several exhibition openings in galleries within the district
- "Café Wirtschaftswunder" – the open-air finale as the closing event of the cultural days
Multiple Venues
Event locations are spread throughout the Bergkirchenviertel: the Protestant Bergkirche church as the main concert venue, alongside galleries, small theatre venues, cafés, and open-air locations in the district's squares. This distribution makes the festival a strolling festival – you wander through the district, from one event to the next.
KiB e.V.
The organizer is the non-profit association KiB – Kultur im Bergkirchenviertel e.V., supported by residents, business owners, and cultural practitioners of the district. Inquiries for programme details can be sent to [email protected]. The complete 2026 programme booklet is available as a PDF on the KiB website.
