Kirwa Tradition in the Upper Palatinate
The Sportheimkirwa of SV Neusorg joins the rich Kirwa tradition of the northern Upper Palatinate. The 'Kirwa' – the dialect form of Kirchweih (church consecration festival) – is one of the most important village festivals of the year in the Tirschenreuth district and is celebrated extensively over several days by clubs like SV Neusorg.
Meeting Point at the Sports Center
The venue is the sports center of SV Neusorg. Here, the sports club organizes the Kirwa independently: catering with Kirwabier, hearty dishes, and home-style cooking, plus live music and a great atmosphere late into the night. The Sportheimkirwa is an integral part of the event calendar of the municipality of Neusorg.
Embedded in Neusorg's Kirwa Events
Around the Kirwa season, other traditional events take place in Neusorg – such as the patron saint's day of St. Wendelin with the Wendelin ride and the Kirchweih hike of TuS Neusorg. The Sportheimkirwa of SV Neusorg serves as the convivial club hub during these festive days and is not to be confused with the Sportheimkirwa of the neighboring SV Riglasreuth.
Steinwald and Fichtelgebirge
Neusorg is scenically located between the Steinwald and Fichtelgebirge mountains. The Kirwa combines down-to-earth conviviality with the typical charm of Upper Palatinate village festivals and is a meeting point for locals, former residents, and guests.
Sportheimkirwa Neusorg — edition 2026
According to the event calendar of the municipality of Neusorg, the Sportheimkirwa 2026 runs from October 16 to 19 at the Neusorg sports center. Over the long weekend, SV Neusorg ensures a lively atmosphere with live music in the evenings, Kirwabier on tap, and extensive catering. The Kirwa follows the tried-and-tested schedule with festivities on Friday and Saturday evenings, a cozy Kirwa Sunday, and a wind-down on Monday (Kirwa dance-off). The exact detailed program with the performing music groups will be announced by SV Neusorg shortly before the Kirwa via its club channels and the municipality of Neusorg.

Getting Here
Neusorg is located in the Tirschenreuth district on the Marktredwitz–Weiden railway line (Neusorg station). By car, take the A93 (Mitterteich or Marktredwitz exit) and continue via state and district roads.
