Beller Freibad Open Air — Summer Festival in the Lippe Hill Country

In the small district of Belle, part of the Lippe town of Horn-Bad Meinberg, one of the region's most charming summer festivals has been taking place for over three decades. The Beller Freibad Open Air transforms the local outdoor pool on Pyrmonter Straße into a stage under the open sky from August 21st to 22nd, 2026. Thousands of visitors from Lippe, the Weser Uplands, and the Paderborn Hochstift region come for two days of music, summer vibes, and swimming opportunities between concerts.

Festival Atmosphere at the Swimming Pool

The concept is as simple as it is effective: the stage is set at the edge of the outdoor pool, and the audience enjoys the concerts from the sunbathing lawn, in the water, or on the surrounding grassy areas. This casual atmosphere — barefoot in summer, swim trunks in the pool, a beer in hand — makes the Beller Open Air one of the most relaxed festivals in the Lippe region. Several bands from the local and national scene perform over the weekend, with a musical spectrum ranging from rock and indie to pop, reggae, and ska.

Family-Friendly for Over Three Decades

Unlike many large open-air festivals, the Beller Freibad Open Air emphasizes family-friendliness. Ticket prices are moderate, and children often have free admission up to a certain age. The swimming pool setting makes the festival ideal for families with children — while parents listen to the bands, the children splash around in the pool. The outdoor pool season in Belle traditionally begins on Pentecost, which in 2026 falls on Sunday, May 24th. From then on, the pool is open until early September — the open air in August is the social highlight of the season. Pool admission prices remain moderate, and the pool is a popular meeting place for Belle's youth and families from the surrounding Lippe villages.
