St.-Hubertus-Schützenbruderschaft Dahl 1927 — Almost 100 Years of Club Life
The St.-Hubertus-Schützenbruderschaft Dahl 1927 e.V. is one of the traditional clubs in the Paderborn Hochstift region. Founded in 1927, the brotherhood is approaching its 100th anniversary in 2027 — a milestone the club life has been preparing for years. The patron saint is St. Hubertus, the patron saint of hunters and marksmen, traditionally venerated in the Catholic-influenced Sauerland and Hochstift Paderborn regions. The venue for the Schützenfest is the Mehrzweckhalle Dahl (multi-purpose hall).
Preliminary Events — Bird Shooting and Parade March
As with many Rhineland-Westphalian Schützenvereine (shooting clubs), the Schützen year runs in several stages:
- June 20, 2026, 2:00 PM — Bird shooting in the Mehrzweckhalle Dahl. Candidates take turns shooting at a wooden bird; the winner becomes the new Schützenkönig (shooting king) and will represent the brotherhood for the coming year.
- June 27, 2026 — Parade march of all companies in uniform — preparation for the main festival, a traditional demonstration of the club's strength in the local community.
Main Festival July 4–6, 2026
The main festival runs for three days (Sat–Mon):
- Saturday, July 4, from 5:30 PM — Shotgun mass, traditional Grand Tattoo, concluding festival ball with live band in the Mehrzweckhalle
- Sunday, July 5, from 1:30 PM — Festival parade and review of all companies with the royal couples of friendly brotherhoods and music bands, followed by the coronation of the new king and queen and the coronation ball
- Monday, July 6 — Shotgun breakfast at 8:15 AM (for the marksmen), women's breakfast at 10:00 AM (for the ladies), festival winding down in the afternoon
Dahl — District in Southern Paderborn
Dahl is a district in the south of Paderborn with just under 3,000 inhabitants, located on the edge of the Eggegebirge mountain range. Paderborn itself — a university city and bishop's seat with approx. 153,000 inhabitants, it is the largest city in the Hochstift Paderborn — is only a few kilometers away. The Schützenwesen (shooting tradition) in Dahl is part of a dense network of Schützenfeste in the Paderborn district — almost every district has its own brotherhood and its own festival. The St.-Hubertus-Bruderschaft Dahl is among the most active and best-attended.
