Christmas Market at Mallinckrodthof — Borchen Advent Weekend
On the 1st Advent weekend, November 28th and 29th, 2026, the Adventsmarkt Borchen opens its gates at the traditional Mallinckrodthof in Nordborchen. In recent years, the market has developed into one of the most popular Christmas markets in the Paderborn region — with over 80 exhibitors, a free bus shuttle, and an impressive range of arts and crafts.
Mallinckrodthof — Historic Setting
The Mallinckrodthof is a historic estate in Nordborchen, the northern district of the municipality of Borchen in the Paderborn district. With its half-timbered architecture and courtyard character, it provides the ideal backdrop for an atmospheric Christmas market. The exhibitors are spread across the courtyard, in heated tents, and in the historic rooms — making the market cozy even in snow and frost.
80 Exhibitors with a High-Quality Selection
The over 80 exhibitors are carefully selected — this makes the Borchen Christmas market qualitatively above average:
- Jewelry — silver, glass, natural materials
- Woodwork — carvings, toys, Christmas figures, nativity scenes
- Ceramics — cups, bowls, jugs, nativity figures
- Hand-forged items — iron tools, knives, jewelry from the forge
- Christmas decorations — arrangements, Advent wreaths, table decorations
- Tiffany glass — crafted glass art using the Tiffany technique
In addition, there are regional food specialties — honey, jam, liqueur, sausage — from direct marketers from the Paderborn Land.
Free Bus Shuttle — Exemplary Travel Solution
The organizers have provided an exemplary travel solution: free bus shuttles on lines R70 and R71 bring visitors to the market. Additionally, there are Park & Ride facilities. This allows the event to avoid the usual parking chaos of smaller Christmas markets. Anyone coming from Paderborn or Bad Wünnenberg should definitely use the shuttle — it runs regularly between Park-and-Ride and Mallinckrodthof.
Borchen — Municipality in the Paderborn Region
Borchen is a municipality with around 13,500 inhabitants in the Paderborn district, south of the city of Paderborn. It consists of several districts — Kirchborchen, Nordborchen, Etteln, Alfen, among others. The region is predominantly rural, with active club life and close-knit village structures. The Christmas market at the Mallinckrodthof is one of the municipality's most important cultural highlights — attracting visitors not only from the Paderborn district but also from the Sauerland and nearby Westphalia.
Why This Market Is Worthwhile
The Borchen Christmas market combines three qualities that are rarely found together: high-quality exhibitors, a historic setting, and convenient travel. Those who are not keen on large, commercial city markets but value quality and atmosphere will find their perfect Advent weekend here.
