Folk Festival with Tradition since 1967
The Königsbrunner Gautsch was first celebrated in 1967 on the occasion of Königsbrunn's city elevation and has since developed into a firm highlight in the city's event calendar. Königsbrunn is located immediately south of Augsburg in the Augsburg district.
Course and Format
The festival traditionally begins on the last Friday in June with the beer tapping by the First Mayor and always lasts ten days. The venue is the festival grounds on St.-Johannes-Straße with a large festival tent and amusement park.
Program
An extensive and varied program is offered:
- Brass and show bands as well as rock bands with traditional and modern music in the festival tent
- Large amusement park with numerous rides and attractions
- Culinary specialties
- Family afternoons and senior afternoons
- Two fireworks displays and balloon rides
New Festival Hosts 2026
For the 2026 edition, a new festival host couple will take over the festival tent: Désirée and Christian Papert from Bechhofen. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in the long history of the Gautsch.

The 2026 edition starts on June 26 with the traditional beer tapping by the First Mayor and lasts ten days. New is the festival host couple Désirée and Christian Papert from Bechhofen, who will take over the catering for the festival tent.

Getting There
Königsbrunn is located south of Augsburg, easily accessible via the B17 federal road and by tram line 3 from Augsburg. The festival grounds are located on St.-Johannes-Straße.
Admission
Entry to the festival grounds and tent is free; costs are incurred for food, drinks, and rides.
