Shooting Tradition since 1969

The Schützen- und Volksfest Steinbach am Wald has been organized by the Schützenverein Rennsteig Steinbach/Wald e.V. since 1969. Every year on the last weekend of August, the festival grounds at the watershed transform into a focal point of community life – four days of shooting tradition, festival tent, and folk festival in the heart of the Frankenwald.

Festival Kick-off with Beer Tapping

The festival opens on Friday evening with the beer tapping by the First Mayor, followed by live music and a lively atmosphere in the festival tent. This marks the beginning of the extended festival weekend.

King Proclamation on Saturday

Saturday is dedicated to the solemn proclamation of the king: the new shooting kings are announced, accompanied by the Steinbach am Wald music club. In the evening, there will be cozy festival tent entertainment.

Festival Service and Grand Parade on Sunday

Sunday begins with an ecumenical festival service in the tent and a commemoration of the fallen. The highlight in the afternoon is the grand parade, led by the shooting kings and accompanied by numerous clubs, distinguished guests, and brass bands, moving through the town.

Children's Parade on Monday

Monday is dedicated to the youngest guests: a colorful children's parade concludes the festival weekend. Thus, the four-day festival offers a varied program for young and old.

Steinbach am Wald in the Frankenwald

Steinbach am Wald is located in the district of Kronach in Upper Franconia, high up in the Frankenwald on the historic watershed between the Rhine and the Elbe, near the Rennsteig. The Schützen- und Volksfest is the most important social event of the year for the community and the entire Rennsteig region.
