Schützenfest in the Frankenwald

The Schützenhaus- und Volksfest in Dadner is a three-day festival in the Dadner district of Tettau. The market town of Tettau is located in the far north of Upper Franconia, in the high Frankenwald, directly on the Rennsteig and on the border with Thuringia. Dadner is one of the districts of the municipality, with its own shooting club tradition and clubhouse.

Schützenbrauchtum and Volksfest

Over three days, the festival combines classic shooting club traditions (shooting competition, king's shoot, parade) with folk festival elements (beer service, Franconian tavern cuisine, live music). The opening on Friday evening is usually a shooting club/festival evening with a live band, Saturday is dedicated to the shooting competitions and the title of Schützenkönig (shooting king), and Sunday features a morning pint with a concert, a parade, and lunch.

Tettau and its Club Scene

Tettau cultivates a strong club and shooting culture – typical for the villages of the Frankenwald. In addition to the Schützenfest in Dadner, the municipality hosts anniversary concerts by singing circles, glassblowing demonstrations at the European Perfume Bottle Museum, and numerous other village festivals. The Schützenfest in Dadner is part of this mosaic of clubs and is jointly organized by the local tradition association and shooting club.
