District Festival in the Historic Village Center
Until 1937, Volksdorf was an independent village — and its historic center "Im Alten Dorfe," with its Low German farmhouses and thatched roofs, remains one of Hamburg's most beautiful district ensembles. It is here, for decades, on the first weekend of September, that the Volksdorfer Stadtteilfest takes place — three days of events deeply rooted in local club life.
Program Over Three Days
On Friday, the stage program starts at 3 PM, with show performances by Walddörfer SV from 4:30 PM and live bands in the evening. On Saturday, the focus is on sports activities (football, handball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, pickleball), crate climbing, bouncy castle, Bobbycar race track, and the button maker, alongside preliminary rounds of the Hamburg Children's Olympics, the Walddörfer mascot Flip's dance program, live bands, and an open-air cinema in the evening. Sunday features the grand cycling race and the Walddörfer Inline Race (registration required, ages 10 and up).
Walddörfer SV — The Sporting Backbone
With over 4,000 members, Walddörfer SV is one of Hamburg's largest sports clubs and a co-organizer of the district festival. Its stand, featuring show performances, participatory sports stations, and the Hamburg Children's Olympics, significantly shapes the event. Mascot Flip is the figure of identification for the little ones.
Volksdorf and the Walddörfer
Volksdorf is part of the Walddörfer (Forest Villages) in the north of Hamburg (Wandsbek district) — four rural districts (Volksdorf, Bergstedt, Wohldorf-Ohlstedt, Duvenstedt) located between the Sachsenwald forest and the city center. The rural atmosphere, riding clubs, and equestrian traditions make the area one of Hamburg's most distinctive. The district festival reflects this identity — down-to-earth, club-based, and family-friendly.

46th Volksdorfer Stadtteilfest
From September 4 to 6, 2026, Stadtteilfest Volksdorf e.V. invites you for the 46th time to the historic village center Im Alten Dorfe. Three days of events with stage music, sports, family games, and the traditional Walddörfer Inline Race.
Stages and Live Bands
Main stage program from Friday 3 PM, Walddörfer SV show performances from 4:30 PM, live bands on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Sports and Participation
Saturday: Sports activities with football, handball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, and pickleball; crate climbing, bouncy castle, Bobbycar race track, button maker. Preliminary rounds of the 20th Hamburg Children's Olympics on the festival grounds. Mascot Flip with dance program.
Sunday — Cycling Race and Inline Race
Sunday starts with the cycling race, followed by the 8th Walddörfer Inline Race (registration required, ages 10 and up).

Getting There
Subway U1 Volksdorf, then approx. 5 minutes walk to the historic village center Im Alten Dorfe. By car: Parking in surrounding residential streets (limited).
Admission
Free admission. Sports stations and participatory activities are free. Food and drinks on-site are subject to charge. Inline Race and cycling race require registration.
Good to Know
Family-friendly, many activities for children. Walddörfer Inline Race on Sunday for ages 10 and up, registration required. Open-air cinema on Saturday evening.
