40 Years Open-Air Festival at the Baroque Schlossplatz — Free Admission
The 2026 Schlossplatzfest is a special edition: it marks the 40th anniversary since its first staging in the mid-1980s and introduces a new concept. After years of rising operating costs, the new organizers — Enrico Pizzato, Saoussene Bellout (Fusion Catering), and Nima Khorsandi — have simplified the format: fewer tents, fewer stages, but free admission and a clearly defined gastronomic offering.
Despite the streamlined concept, the program remains extensive: over 170 shows are spread across two stages featuring more than 800 artists. The spectrum ranges from live bands to comedy, dance, and performance. The venue is the historic Coburg Schlossplatz — a unique open-air location with the backdrop of Ehrenburg Palace, the Landestheater, and the Hofgarten.
The new concept places a stronger emphasis on gastronomy. Reserved tables with consumption vouchers, as well as free seating areas without prior reservation, cater to different needs. For sponsor communication, Nima Khorsandi (0170-4928292) and Manfred Mehls (0175-4022595) are available.
Coburg is an independent city with around 41,000 inhabitants in the Upper Franconia district of Bavaria. Until 1918, the city was the residence of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha — a house that became the ancestral home of the British royal dynasty through marriage to Queen Victoria. Ehrenburg Palace, the residence on Schlossplatz, now houses parts of the Coburg State Library and exhibition rooms of the Bavarian Palace Department. Veste Coburg, above the city, is one of the largest and most beautiful preserved castle complexes in Germany.
The Schlossplatz is one of Bavaria's most beautiful open-air festival locations: baroque architecture in sight, the Hofgarten as a retreat space, the Landestheater as a nightly illuminated backdrop. Visitors to the Schlossplatzfest experience a summer festival in a setting that Berlin or Munich cannot offer with such quality.
The 2026 anniversary edition represents a conceptual reorientation. After years of classic stage-tent setups, the new organizers opted for a more streamlined, culinarily focused format. The result: free admission, enhanced guest experience, and selected catering. The cultural diversity remains with over 170 shows.
The complete stage program will be published shortly before the festival on schlossplatzfest-coburg.de. Table reservations with consumption vouchers can be made via the festival website or by phone (Nima Khorsandi 0170-4928292, Manfred Mehls 0175-4022595).
The detailed stage and show program will be published in the weeks leading up to the festival on the official website and through the local press. The format includes:
