Six Weeks of Literature
From April 24 to June 13, 2026, the 23rd edition of Coburg Reads! will take place. Carsten Henn will open the festival on April 24 with two readings, followed on April 25 by a "Text & Talk" discussion with Nadége Kusanika, Lara Rüter, and Henrik Szántó. Philip Krömer will lead a workshop and give a reading on April 30.
In May and June, Karin Kuschik, Güner Yasemin Balci, and other female and male authors will perform. The closing event on June 13 will be a reading with Romy Hausmann. Venues include Buchhandlung Riemann, Coburg University of Applied Sciences, the theatre in the Reithalle, St. Augustin, and private living rooms.

Getting There
Coburg in the district of Coburg (Bavaria) is accessible via the ICE line Berlin–Munich (Coburg station) and the A73 motorway. The venues are spread across the city center.

Literary Festival in Upper Franconia
Coburg Reads! is the literary festival of the Upper Franconian town of Coburg in the Bavarian state of Bavaria. For several weeks, the event, organized by vhs Coburg, brings female and male authors to the city – including regular names from the Spiegel bestseller list. The 23rd edition runs from April 24 to June 13, 2026.
Readings, Discussions, Workshops
The program combines classic readings with discussions and workshops. In 2026, Carsten Henn will open the festival on April 24 with two readings. Later, Karin Kuschik, Romy Hausmann, Güner Yasemin Balci, and Philip Krömer will perform, among others; Krömer will also lead a workshop. A "Text & Talk" discussion with emerging female and male authors will round off the program. The closing event on June 13 will be a reading with Romy Hausmann.

Readings will take place at various locations in Coburg: at Buchhandlung Riemann, Coburg University of Applied Sciences, the theatre in the Reithalle, St. Augustin, and in private living rooms. This mix of literary, academic, and private spaces gives the festival its special, personal character.
