The Coburger Designtage is an established design and creative festival in Coburg, organized by the Coburger Designforum Oberfranken e.V. Instead of a classic exhibition, the Designtage sees itself as a walkable overall experience: Spaces, curated by various designers, transform a complete location and make design tangible as a process. The program combines multi-story design exhibitions with design talks, workshops, readings, children's activities, and live music (singer-songwriters, DJ sets, bands). The 38th edition in 2026 will take place under the motto "Design can Transformation" in Heiligkreuzstraße, Coburg — opened by Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger and with free admission. The Designtage are among the most traditional design events in Upper Franconia.

The 38th Coburger Designtage 2026 will take place from June 2 to 7 in Heiligkreuzstraße, Coburg, under the motto "Design can Transformation". The festival by the Coburger Designforum Oberfranken e.V. transforms the location into a walkable overall experience with multi-story design exhibitions, design talks, workshops, readings, children's activities, and live music. The edition will be opened by Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger. Admission is free.

The 38th edition moves from the Kulturfabrik Cortendorf (2025) to Heiligkreuzstraße in Coburg's city center. Under the motto "Design can Transformation", various designers curate individual rooms, each with its own character, thus transforming the entire location. The site will be further developed beyond the Designtage in cooperation with Wohnbau Coburg.

The program includes multi-story design exhibitions, design talks and discussions, hands-on workshops (wood keyboard, graffiti lettering, yoga, storytelling), children's activities, readings, games, and live music with singer-songwriters, DJ sets, and bands. The festival by the Coburger Designforum Oberfranken e.V. sees itself as a "walkable overall experience": Various designers curate individual rooms, each with its own character and theme, thus transforming an entire location. Design is thus not exhibited behind glass cases, but made tangible as space, atmosphere, and process.

The program of the Designtage is deliberately broad: multi-story design exhibitions, design talks and discussion rounds, hands-on workshops (e.g., building keyboards from wood, graffiti lettering, yoga, storytelling), creative activities for children (Anker building blocks, stuffing dolls, painting), readings and games, as well as live music with singer-songwriters, DJ sets, bands, and theater workshops. The ground floor and outdoor areas are accessible with reduced mobility.

Changing Locations in Coburg

The Designtage move through various locations in the city. In 2025, the 37th edition took place at the Kulturfabrik Cortendorf (motto "Looking Beyond the Obvious", focus on Co-Creation). In 2026, the 38th edition will move to Heiligkreuzstraße in Coburg's city center — a location that will be further developed beyond the Designtage in cooperation with Wohnbau Coburg.
