After-Work Market in the Hasten District

Hasten is located in the west of Remscheid and is one of the traditional districts of the Bergisches Land's tool-making city in the Remscheid district (independent city in the administrative district of Düsseldorf). The central Richard-Lindenberg-Platz in front of the former Hasten school will be the venue for the after-work market for the second time on Thursday, July 23, 2026, starting at 5 p.m. — following the successful premiere in 2024.

Regional Produce from the Bergisches Land

The focus is on producers and manufacturers from the Bergisches Land. Bergisches honey from local beekeepers, cheese from farms, sausage specialties from regional slaughterhouses, fresh baked goods, homemade spreads, and wine from the nearby Middle Rhine Valley — the variety of stalls is manageable but quality-oriented. Those looking for a relaxed after-work atmosphere rather than a pure weekly market will get their money's worth here.

Beer Garden Atmosphere and Live Music

The square will be furnished with beer garden tables and benches, high tables, and small lamps — a tribute to the summer evening tradition of German after-work markets. A live band will play at the pavilion, accompanied by bratwurst from a charcoal grill, vegetarian specialties, and a small children's program with crafts and games. Admission is free. Catering will be provided by local clubs, gastronomic businesses from Hasten, and a street food vendor.

Seven Dates Across Remscheid

The Hasten date is part of a market series that Stadtmarketing Remscheid will host again in 2026 on seven different district squares: Lennep (June 11 and August 27), Lüttringhausen (June 25 and August 20), Süd (July 9), Hasten (July 23), and Innenstadt (August 6). This gives each district its own summer event. Over the years, the series has become a regular meeting point for neighbors, families, and commuters after work.

Getting There and Surroundings

Richard-Lindenberg-Platz is centrally located in Hasten on Hastener Straße, easily accessible by bus line 657 (Hasten stop). It is about four kilometers from Remscheid city center. Parking is available on the surrounding streets, but it is limited — arriving by bus is easier. Hasten itself is a traffic-calmed district with the characteristic slate charm of Bergisches architecture.
