Classical Music in the Historic Castle Hall

For decades, the Vöhlin Castle Concerts have been the centerpiece of classical concert life in the Swabian Neu-Ulm district. The main venue is the acoustically acclaimed Baroque Hall in Vöhlin Castle with about 100 seats, supplemented by the festival hall of the Kolleg der Schulbrüder, the Historische Schranne, and the Josef-Weikmann-Halle in Illertissen-Au.

Program Ranging from Chamber Music to Opera

The program spans from song recitals by the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera Munich to French chanson and brass band concerts, as well as special projects focusing on historical performance practice. The series is known in southern Bavarian-Swabia for many concerts selling out in advance – an indication of a loyal, discerning audience.

Vöhlin Castle and Illertissen

Vöhlin Castle, originally a castle of the Lords of Kirchberg, was expanded into a Renaissance castle in the 16th century by the Augsburg patrician family Vöhlin. Today, it houses the Bavarian Bee Museum and the Pharmacy Museum. Illertissen is located directly on the A7 motorway between Ulm and Memmingen and is considered the economic and cultural center of the eastern Neu-Ulm district.

Tickets are usually available via ulmtickets.de and the Zanker bookstore in Illertissen. The series is supported by Kulturkreis Illertissen e.V., which integrates the Vöhlin Castle Concerts with other cultural events in the town.
