Traditional multi-day Franconian Kirchweih with tent service and hop market
Lonnerstadt is located in the Franconian Aischgrund, a region known for hop cultivation and carp pond farming. The Kirchweih – "Kerwa" in Franconian dialect, traditionally called "Loschedder Kerwa" here – is the most important social event of the village year and is organized by the Loschedder Kerwaburschen.
The Loschedder Kerwa lasts for about six days from late September to early October. The festival grounds feature a beer tent, lively brass music, and Franconian specialties creating a festive atmosphere. This multi-day format is typical for the major Kirchweihen in the Aischgrund.
The fixed program includes the tent service as a spiritual opening, a hop market (a nod to the Aischgrund's hop-growing tradition), Franconian Küchle (traditional lard pastries), and music by the Gleißenberger Blasmusik. A Sunday with open shops connects the Kerwa with local commerce.
The Loschedder Kerwa is not the only festival in Lonnerstadt: throughout the year, the municipality and its districts celebrate numerous other events – including the Midsummer bonfire, the Ailsbach village festival, the TSV cellar festival, the Advent market, and the Kirchweih in Ailsbach. However, the Loschedder Kerwa is the social highlight of the year.
The municipality of Lonnerstadt and its districts maintain a particularly active club and festival life. The Loschedder Kerwa attracts visitors from the entire Aischgrund and the Erlangen region, keeping Franconian Kirchweih culture alive.
