Open-air festival with medieval, folk, and rock in the Höchstadt castle courtyard
As the weekend begins, the Höchstadt Castle Courtyard transforms into a festival stage: The Schlosshof Festival brings bands from the medieval, folk, and rock genres onto a stage that, amidst sandstone walls, old trees, and cellar taverns, evokes Höchstadt's former significance as a bishop's market town.
Höchstadt is located in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in western Middle Franconia (Bavaria), nestled between the Steigerwald forest and the Franconian hill country. The town is part of the famous Aischgrund Carp Region and has been an important brewing and market location since the Middle Ages. Today, Höchstadt boasts a vibrant beer culture with its brewery, which is also reflected in the festival.
The 2026 line-up includes the Croatian medieval/folk metal band Manntra, the folk-rock formation The Cloverhearts, and the medieval band Vroudenspil. The festival thus shows a clear stylistic focus: dark folk, medieval sounds, and powerful rock – music that unfolds its full effect against the backdrop of a historic castle courtyard.
The festival is organized by Brauhaus Höchstadt. With ticket outlets in Höchstadt, Erlangen, Nuremberg, Fürth, Bamberg, Amberg, and Neumarkt, the festival has established itself throughout the entire Franconian region. A weekend pass for both days allows fans to experience the complete program; day tickets are also available.
The Schlosshof Festival is a medium-sized festival with a family-like atmosphere: not a mass event, but a focused weekend for lovers of medieval rock, folk, and indie rock. Those who appreciate the combination of music and historical settings will find one of Franconia's most beautiful festival stages here.
The 2026 edition of the Schlosshof Festival will be held on Friday, August 7th, and Saturday, August 8th, 2026, in the castle courtyard at Kellerstraße 11, 91315 Höchstadt an der Aisch.
Confirmed bands include the Croatian medieval-folk metal band Manntra, the folk-rock formation The Cloverhearts, and Vroudenspil. The program combines medieval sounds, folk, and rock – a typical mix for a weekend in a historic Franconian castle courtyard setting.
