The Entire City Center Becomes a Stage
Numerous performance venues are set up throughout the city center: Hafnergarten, Archivhof, a bar area, Café BinenStich, the Verwaltungshof, Platzhirsch, die Laterne, St.-Jakobs-Platz, various cafés, Wittelsbacher Castle, and Ludwigstraße. This creates a dense network of sound spaces for visitors to stroll through.
No Fee, With a Hat
The musicians and bands perform without a fee and appreciate contributions to their hat. This principle makes the Fête de la Musique an open, accessible festival that thrives on the artists' joy of playing and the audience's attention.
Car-Free Old Town
For the festival, the city center is completely closed to traffic – from Friedberger Berg or Bauernbräustraße to Ludwigstraße, from 3:00 PM on June 21st until 7:00 AM the following day. This allows the music to spread undisturbed through alleys, courtyards, and squares.
