Volksfest in the City Center

While most of the region's major Volksfeste take place on dedicated fairgrounds outside city centers, the Herbstzauber opts for an unusual but highly popular location: Berliner Platz right in the heart of Ludwigshafen. This makes the festival easily accessible by any tram, bus, or even on foot from the main train station within minutes. This connectivity makes it a magnet for the population of the entire Vorderpfalz region and the adjacent districts of Mannheim.

20 Showmen, Compact Atmosphere

The around 20 showmen offer a compact yet representative mix of typical Volksfest attractions: a carousel for children, shooting galleries, throwing games, sweet stalls with candied almonds and chocolate-covered fruits, bratwurst and fries stands, small rides, as well as stalls offering non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. Its manageable size is particularly attractive for families with small children – no endless searching, everything at a glance.

Sunday Shopping as Accompanying Program

Just like the related Frühlingszauber in spring, the Herbstzauber is traditionally accompanied by a Sunday shopping event. The downtown shops open, often with special promotions and discounts, ensuring additional foot traffic in the city center. This integration of Volksfest and retail has been a proven concept by the city and LUKOM for years.

Transition to the Advent Season

With its timing in late October / early November, the Herbstzauber is positioned right at the threshold between autumn and the Advent season. Just a few weeks later, the large Ludwigshafen Christmas market with the TWL Lichterzauber opens on the same Berliner Platz – the Herbstzauber can thus be seen as the social kickoff to the dark season.
